Living Into Our Values exercise - Brené Brown, Dare to Lead

“A value is a way of being or belief that we hold most important. Living into our values means that we do more than profess our values, we practice them. We walk our talk—we are clear about what we believe and hold important, and we take care that our intentions, words, thoughts, and behaviors align with those beliefs.”

8-Role Pie Chart:  Designate the 8, most important roles you play (or want to take on). Evaluate your level of satisfaction with how well, or how strong you feel you're fulfilling these roles on a scale of 0 (not fulfilling this role at all) to 10 (fully content with how you embody this role in your life)

It will give you a visual image of where you can focus your time to increase your level of happiness, satisfaction, or all-around well-being.

Make sure one of these roles is SELF.

Looking Back in Order to Go Forward

If you want tomorrow to be different than today.. and yesterday.. and the year before - it's important to learn the lessons in the past, whether it's 5 minutes or 5 decades ago.

Starting a New Year is always the easiest time to look back, but it's only because that's what we've always done. Start now. Today. Regardless of what the calendar says.

Look back - 5 minutes to 5 decades - and make note of the Good, the Bad, & the ...Not sure, TBD.

Every Bad has a silver lining, even if the silver doesn't shine on you. There is always an equal and opposite that exists. Look for it.

For every BAD, find the silver lining, the lesson to be learned.

For every Good, find the opposite that the event / situation generated. It's there.

Again, the lesson may not be directly impacting you, but it's important to recognize it's there. Empathy is your. bonus for those lessons.

Any journal or piece of paper is good. Here's a simple PDF worksheet to use, if you'd like.
