Learn About Don't Retire! ReWire.

Why do most Retirement Planners & Coaches get it SO WRONG?

  1. They try to “analyze and fix” us, as if something is broken.  We aren't broken.

  2. They prioritize “finding a new passion”, as if finding “something to do” is the answer.  It's not.

  3. They focus solely on the financial impact of retirement,  leaving the rest of life to just “fall into place”.  It won't.

BOLD-Women is a learning, sharing, and supportive community for women over 60 who have or are considering leaving their successful career for a 2nd wave.

RETIREMENT, in the literal sense, is not the goal. A new chapter is.

After spending the last several decades striving for conventional success, BOLD-Women are determined to spend the next few decades defining and living their best lives, as THEY see it.

The mission of BOLD-Women is to support post-career women over 60 to live fully, boldly, and authentically in their 2nd wave. This is made possible through interactive workshops, self-paced practices, and private mastermind groups, all with the objective of reviving the SELF, the spirit and spontaneity.

Hello, my name is Lynnelle.

I'm a 60-something year-old post career woman.

After leaving my career in 2017, it took me a few years and more than a few tears to get back to my SELF.

Now that you’ve left your professional life behind, you are  probably looking forward to living  with more  meaning, more in line with your authentic self.

But, like me, you're finding that isn’t as easy as you expected.

This feeling of uncertainty, like you’re floundering, is unfamiliar and you don’t like it. You stay busy, making plans and taking action.

But, you’re still stuck, feeling disconnected, and totally out of your element.

If this is you, you are not alone.

It’s a common situation many of us strong, type-A, introverted females find ourselves in.

We’ve spent our lives making shit happen. And now, it’s not working.  But it can. And it will.

I can show you.

It’s been a week since I promised some insight about my big bungee jump move but here I am, still staring at this blank page. There are such mixed emotions with this move, I imagine that’s what the procrastination was about. But, moving forward — It’s happening. I’m moving from Austin to Charleston, hitting the road on Monday, 12 June.

As a woman over 60, you are tasked with transitioning out of your long career at the same time you are dealing with the physical and cultural challenges inherent in nearing or entering your senior years.

You may find yourself in a situation that feels like emotional paralysis.

  • "I was so looking forward to the day I could leave my work behind. When that day finally came, I was ecstatic! A couple of months later, I was lost. What happened to me!?

You had a lifequake, that's what happened to you. The ground beneath your feet opened up and your career is on one side and your new life is on the other. You're stuck in the gap.

    1. Expectations of how our life will unfold rarely meet with reality, for one. We may have visions of extensive travel, a calendar full of fun social engagements, meaningful family get-togethers, or just enjoying quiet, peaceful alone time. Somehow the reality didn't turn out like that.
    2. Another consideration is that we long so much for "THE DAY" to get here that "THE DAY" is more of the focus than our life after. After the honeymoon of retiring wears off, it can be a big letdown.
    3. Lastly, social conditioning has imprinted on our psyches what a "retired" woman's life is. Try as we might to fight that cultural image, our brains have been conditioned from decades of messaging. Subconsciously, even if you don't realize it, you can actually hold yourself back without even realizing it.

If any of this sounds familiar, you're not alone. That's what Bold-WOMEN is about. Redefining what it means to be a Senior Woman. Check out our Program, 3rd Quarter ReBOOT.

  • "What do I say when asked, "What do you do?""

Oh, my gosh, this is a real gut check, isn't it? Here are a few DONT's:

    1. I'm not sure yet.
    2. I don't know.
    3. I'm retired.

If you don't know what you want to be doing yet, fake it. Here are a couple of suggestions.

    1. I'm really into ________. What are some of the things you're interested in? What do you like to learn about, where do you want to travel to? Are you doing any volunteering? When I was thinking about this website (since 2017, thank you...) I would say I'm really interested in blogging and online businesses. Whaaat? No, I didn't have anything up and running. I had also just moved into a new house and was trying to tame a wild field into a front and back yard, so "landscaping" was always something I mentioned.
    2. I've got a few things on my plate. I'm going to take some time to consider my options.

Whatever you do, hold your head up and engage. You got this.

  • "Wow, I'm surprised at how lonely this retirement is."

This is one of the real surprises for me. I worked so many hours, most of my socializing revolved around my work, business events with co-workers, and clients. I really didn't consider the impact of walking away from the social side as well. It's not that I thought my co-workers and clients were my friends, but I just didn't think about it.

Another thing I didn't think about was that most of my non-work friends have kids and grandkids that are their primary focus in life. I don't have kids and the separateness I felt in my 20s and 30s I recognize again in my 60s.

For those of us without kids, without extended family close by, or just plain independent, retirement can be a bit lonely at first. It takes a real effort to reconstruct a social circle.

That's one of the main reasons for the free Facebook Group, Bold-WOMEN, and the free monthly "Sunday Salon" and "Virtual Book Club" events.
